“The purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”, Pablo Picasso
I grew up in a small farming community in Iowa and have a degree in elementary education from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. After completing college, I moved to northern Minnesota where I worked as a canoe guide and youth director. The mountains were calling me so I moved west to work at Holden Village. There I enjoyed living in a small mountain village and spent my first year teaching in their one room school. Later I moved down lake and added an early childhood and arts endorsement to my teaching certificate. I had a children's art studio for a few years and taught visual arts at the Chelan Valley Independent School. Whenever I have the opportunity I continue taking courses in painting, ceramics, sculpture, illustrating, and printmaking. I am honored to be sharing this education with the students in Manson Secondary School!
I came from Minnesota to the Lake Chelan Valley in 1987. My husband and I built a home in the hills above town and have raised three children there. We enjoy doing things together as a family. We love to camp, hike, and watch baseball and basketball. I often work in my art diary and paint while my family fly fishes. This is probably my favorite pass time.
